Company Experience

With more than 29 years of experience in real estate working with tenants, landlords and developers, Richard H. Nordlund is able to parlay his comprehensive perspective on the industry into sound and profitable transactions on behalf of a wide variety of clients.

A specialist in the areas of office development, leasing, sales and property management, Rich is well acquainted with the nuances of market cycles and his experience allows him to anticipate and perceive possible problems before they occur. His demonstrated skills in negotiation derive from work with tenants from throughout the country and clients with needs both large and small.

Rich earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and an MBA in business administration from the University of Utah. A two-year stint as the economic development for the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce enhanced his proficiency in working with many different industries and as a liaison between private and governmental agencies and the business community at large. For six years he was in charge of developing and leasing Triad Center which consisted of 610,000 square feet of office and retail space in three buildings and two historical structures. This development included the assembly of 32 acres from 39 owners in downtown Salt Lake City.

Highlights of a career that has included 560 transactions totaling 4.4 million square feet, include his responsibility for all real estate activities involving Triad Center, and Broadway Centre, a 237,000 square foot Class A office building. Rich joined Commerce Properties Inc. (now Commerce Real Estate Solutions) in 1987, and has consistently performed as a top producer for the firm.

Rich's community affiliations include membership in the Rotary Club of Salt Lake, serving as Vice President in 2007/2008 a trustee of the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, a member of the board of directors of the Utah Arts Festival, serving as chairperson of the board for 1998/99, a member of the board of directors of the University of Utah Varsity Club, serving as president of the board for 2006 to 2010, a member of the board of directors of the University of Utah Crimson Club and a member of the University of Utah Engineering Alumni Association Board, and the Chemical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
