Utah’s Economy: Mid-Year 2014

2uteconBroad-Based Economic Growth – All major employment sectors of the Utah economy have grown in the past 12 months, with the exception of federal government employment which is unchanged. In May employment growth in Utah was 2.9 percent, an increase of 37,400 jobs. Year-over May employment in Utah’s construction sector increased by 7.3 percent, adding 5,400 jobs. Construction was the top ranked sector in terms of percent change and also ranked first among all major sectors in numeric change. The 3.2 percent increase in manufacturing (3,800 jobs) is encouraging. The growth in health services has slowed to only 2.5 percent.
